For a DeFi allocator seeking maximum capital depth, Ethereum remains difficult to ignore. For an active trader or consumer-app builder who values inexpensive, high-frequency execution, Solana has a strong case. For developers, Ethereum offers the broadest established ecosystem, while Solana’s growth shows that developer mindshare is no longer a one-chain story.

The most useful way to monitor this contest is to keep the definitions fixed. Compare the same TVL methodology, the same volume window, and the same developer category over time. If the measurement changes every time the ranking changes, the comparison is no longer telling you much.
